Hailing from Vienna, Austria, the electro-acoustic free improv group Efzeg was founded 1999 by Boris Hauf. The original line up consisted of Boris Hauf on saxophones and various synths, Burkhard Stangl and Martin Siewert both on guitars and electronics and Dieb13 on turntables. In 2000 visual artist Billy Roisz who uses the original live sound and feedback loops as source for her visual improvisations expanded the group. On the 2005 release "Krom" (Hathut) Billy was introduced as a musician as well. In spring 2007 Dieb13 left the band and was replaced by drummer/percussionist Steve Heather who already appeared as guest musician on the 2004 release "Würm" (Charhizma).
